Reseller Margin
Also known as: markup, wholesale spread
The gap between what a shop pays a platform wholesale and what it charges the client for the same thing.
You pay the platform one price. You charge your client a higher one. The difference is your margin, and on a reseller deal that difference is most of your profit on the job.
It is a clean business when it works. You are paid for the selling, the support and the relationship, which are real work.
The risk is that the margin is set by somebody else. A wholesale price rise lands entirely on you, because telling twenty clients their bill is going up costs you clients. Shops that depend on margin alone have a business that somebody else can reprice.
