Monthly Recurring Revenue
Also known as: MRR, recurring revenue
The money that arrives every month without you finishing a new project to earn it.
Count up what every client pays you monthly, whether or not you build anything new. That total is your recurring revenue, and it is the number that decides whether your shop is a job or a business.
Here is why it matters more than your project fees. A build pays once. A monthly fee pays again next month, and the month after, and during the week you are too ill to work.
Recurring revenue you cannot justify is borrowed, not earned. A monthly fee with nothing to show is the first line a client cuts when money gets tight, which is exactly when you need it most.
The fix is boring and it works. Send something real every month, unprompted, before anyone asks what they are paying for.
