Start from what you will still be doing in three years, not from this week. If you want to keep client sites running for a long time and grow without your costs growing per site, a self-hosted option is the better bet.

If you would rather never see a server and you are happy paying monthly for that, a hosted builder is a fair trade. Both answers are respectable. Drifting into one by accident is not.
